What we look for

A last that leaves room across the toes, a footbed with real cushioning rather than a printed logo, and an upper that creases instead of cracking. Leather is full or corrected grain, never bonded.

Heel heights you can walk in

Almost everything we carry sits under 60mm, on a block, stacked or flared heel. A stiletto is a lovely object and a poor commute, so we keep those to the occasion edit and say so clearly.

Made to be repaired

Where a style can be resoled, we say so on the product page. A shoe you can take to a cobbler twice is worth more than three you cannot.
